A Love Note

Life as a photographer is sporadic and exciting— filled with new faces, experiences and driven by story.

I love my job, but not because it’s drenched in newness. I love it because of the couples I meet and grow to adore, the ones I represent on the day they say, “I do.”

To me, each of their stories are unique— the way they people meet, how they grow to love each other, and through thick and thin, decide to choose each other day-in and day-out.

My couples have their own heartbeat, their own rhythm and time. And their wedding day is a representation of all their vibrance; all their love, sweat and tears wrapped up into a single experience. It was designed by them, for them and their most beloved people.

My couples are why I show up at work every day, and why for the past several years, I have chosen to stand behind a camera in dusty fields, crowded ballrooms, rained out ceremonies and scorching heat. They are my reason to show up, and I haven’t regretted a single moment.

I’m an auntie to eleven littles and I love them as if they were my own. Each one is uniquely gifted, some with the emotional intelligence of a carrying friend and others with a determination that could wow even the most disciplined professional. I love watching them grow into bright, compassionate, skilled individuals. As an auntie, I have poured my heart into being someone they can count on, showing up, supporting, encouraging and creating space for my nieces and nephews to grow and play. Mom always tells me that when I have my own, my love for the nieces and nephews will change and I hope that’s not true. I hope that my own children feel as though they were born into a big family, like I was. I hope that they look up to their cousins, seeing them more as big brothers and sisters and one day call them friends.

The Mural Room At The Santa Barbara Courthouse

If you are looking for a beautiful place to wed, follow Ragnar & Mary’s lead and look no further than the Mural Room at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. The Mural Room is one of the most effortlessly breathtaking venues, needing little-to-not decorations at all (no flowers needed). There are enough seats for 100 guests, and plenty of restaurants nearby with private rooms to rent. (See Jane) This venue is for both the traditional and non-traditional, and very popular for intimate ceremonies. The place was made for those with a love of history, ornate design and stress-free ceremonies. If I were you, I would look no further than the Mural Room.
